E-Bike Rebates in Aurora & Colorado

Here's how Denver's e-bike voucher program works, who qualifies, and what to bring - plus what's true for Aurora shoppers right now.

What can I save right now?

Start with the money, then the fine print.

Program figures current as of October 22, 2026

City of Denver voucher

$675

standard income-qualified

$1,175 enhanced adaptive, no income cap. For people who live in the City and County of Denver, and you can redeem it right here: we're on Denver's list for both.

Denver vouchers

Denver vouchers: how they work, and where to use them.

Denver runs its own voucher program for people who live in the City and County of Denver. Vouchers are redeemed at shops that have signed on to Denver's program, and the city pays the shop back after the sale. Hardt Family Cyclery is on that list, for standard vouchers and for enhanced adaptive vouchers, so you can use yours at our counter. The rules below are here so you know what you're working with.

Voucher amounts

Standard e-bike

Any new Class 1, 2, or 3 e-bike with two or three wheels, working pedals, and a motor of 750 watts or less. A throttle is fine (that's Class 2, up to 20 mph), and e-cargo bikes count. Not covered: full-suspension mountain bikes, used bikes, conversion kits, and e-motos.

Standard adaptive e-bike

A three-wheeled e-bike (e-trike) for a rider whose disability rules out a standard e-bike, like using a wheelchair, walker, or crutches, or trouble with balance. A doctor or other licensed professional confirms the need in writing. Two-wheelers don't qualify.

Enhanced adaptive e-bike

For riders who can't use a standard e-bike or a standard e-trike, so the bike is built around the rider's specific needs. Two-wheelers and off-the-shelf e-trikes don't qualify. Only a handful of adaptive-specialist shops can redeem it, and we're one of them.

Do I qualify?

For a Denver standard voucher, you must be 16 or older, live in the City and County of Denver, and meet the household income cap. People with addresses in other cities and counties do not qualify for Denver's voucher.

Adaptive vouchers have no income cap. Both adaptive tiers require a disability-related need, confirmed in writing by a doctor or other licensed professional.

Release dates and redemption rules

Denver releases vouchers in timed batches. All 2026 standard vouchers have been claimed, so new applicants join a waitlist, and unredeemed or expired vouchers are reissued from it. Check Denver's program page for the latest.

Vouchers are valid for 45 days, with a 90-day extension available by request. They are redeemed in person at a participating brick-and-mortar shop and are not used online.

To redeem, bring your voucher code and proof that you live in the City and County of Denver to a shop on Denver's participating list, like ours. Denver's program page has the full list and the release calendar.

I live in Aurora

Aurora does not have its own e-bike rebate.

Aurora does not currently run a city e-bike purchase rebate. Denver residents can use the city's voucher program above, here at the shop; if you're not sure what applies to you, ask us when you visit.

Which bikes qualify?

Most family e-bikes fit the rules. We still check the label.

The rules are practical: new e-bike, normal Colorado e-bike class, safety certification, and no off-road mode that pushes it outside the 3-class system.

Colorado e-bike class rules
  • New e-bike only.
  • Class 1, Class 2, or Class 3.
  • Motor no more than 750W.
  • 2 or 3 wheels with fully operable pedals.
  • Battery certified to Denver's safety standard (we'll check this for you).
  • Bikes with off-road modes beyond Colorado's 3-class system may be excluded.
Bosch certification claim

Bosch certifies its entire electrical system to UL 2849, and Bosch batteries to UL 2271. Bosch batteries made after July 2022 may show an Intertek mark instead of a UL logo; that mark confirms the same underlying compliance.

Most of the bikes on our floor qualify - we'll confirm yours in about ten seconds when you visit.

FAQ

The questions people ask at the counter.

How much can I save if I live in Denver?

Denver runs a voucher program for city residents: $675 for a standard e-bike, or $1,175 for the enhanced adaptive tier with no income cap. Vouchers are redeemed at a shop in Denver's program, and Hardt is one of them, including for the enhanced adaptive tier.

Do I qualify for a Denver voucher?

You need to be 16 or older, live in the City and County of Denver, and meet the household income cap for a standard voucher. Adaptive vouchers have no income cap. Both adaptive tiers require a disability-related need, confirmed in writing by a doctor or other licensed professional.

What documents do I need for a Denver voucher?

Denver's program looks for your voucher code plus proof that you live in the City and County of Denver. Check Denver's program page for the full accepted-document list before you apply.

Denver's e-bike rebate page

I live in Denver - can I use my city voucher at your shop?

Yes. Hardt is a participating shop in Denver's voucher program, for standard vouchers and enhanced adaptive vouchers. Bring your voucher code and proof that you live in the City and County of Denver, and we'll apply it at checkout.

I live in Aurora - is there an Aurora rebate?

Aurora does not currently run its own e-bike purchase rebate. Ask us in the shop about what applies to your purchase.

Which bikes qualify?

The bike needs to be new, Class 1, 2, or 3, with a motor no more than 750W, 2 or 3 wheels, operable pedals, and a battery certified to Denver's safety standard. We'll check that for you in the shop. Some bikes with off-road modes beyond Colorado's 3-class system are excluded.

How do I start?

Apply through the City of Denver's e-bike rebate page. Denver's 2026 standard vouchers have all been claimed, so new applicants join the waitlist, and unredeemed vouchers are reissued from it. Adaptive vouchers don't wait for a release: email EBikeRebates@denvergov.org for that application. Once you have a voucher, bring it to us. We're a participating shop, and we can help you pick the right bike first. Stop by Tuesday through Saturday, 10 to 5.
